Default B16 cams SUCK!!!! Should I just get some ITR's?

Right now I have b16 cams in my LS/Vtec motor. The power seems to REALLY die off arround 7300 RPMs. Will ITR cams pull hard all the way to 8,000? Will the ITR cams help my low and midrange power at all?

My whole valve train is ITR except for the cams(inner & outer springs, retainers, and valves) . And my head is port and polished and has a 3 angle valve job, at this point I think these 1st gen b16 cams are holding me back!

The 92+ B16 cams would be a little better. The best choice would be some ITR cams or maybe even get Toda or JUN.

Yup.
Better yet get the Skunk2 Stage I cams. People who had both the Type R cams and Skunk2 Stage I's say the Skunk2's are better, even though the specs are almost the same.

Or if you have cash, get the Stage II's with the valvetrain ugrade.

I would go with CTR cam over ITR cams because the intake cam is bigger.

CTR intake cam is better, but it is only 3 degrees more duration. I have heard that the 00+ ITR cams are only 1 degree difference. Unless the CTR cams are close to the same price I would just go with ITR.

Not disagreeing, just saying you have to make sure the price difference isn't more than the performance difference.

Hell yea. Skunk2 Stage 1's!!! They're not that close as ITR or CTR cams as you may think they are. Here's the specs on GS-R, ITR, CTR, and Skunk2 Stage 1 cams:

GS-R Cams:

Intake- 230 degrees of duration, 10.7mm of Lift
Exhaust - 227 degrees of duration, 9.4mm of Lift
17 degrees of overlap

2000-2001 ITR Cams:

Intake- 240 degrees of duration, 11.5mm of Lift
Exhaust - 235 degrees of duration, 10.5mm of Lift
25 degrees of overlap

CTR Cams:

Intake- 243 degrees of duration, 11.5mm of Lift
Exhaust- 235 degrees of duration, 10.5mm of Lift (Same as ITR Exhaust cam)
28 degrees of overlap

Skunk2 Stage 1 Cams:

Intake- 252 degrees of duration, 11.58mm of Lift
Exhaust- 249 degrees of duration, 10.9mm of Lift

You can clearly see the Skunk2 Cams is the most agressive cams out of the GS-R, ITR, and CTR cams.

Go with the Skunk2 Cams. I had ITR's before, but traded them plus something else for Skunk2's...

The thing is, I don't want to spend all that money on skunk cams right now, the stage 2's are deffinatly in the future though, when I rebuild my bottom end.

Last night I met a guy in town with a b16 swap in his EG. He has CTR cams, I started talking to him a bit, and he said he was selling his car to this guy who doesn't know a think about cars for like $10,000. I asked him if he would like to swap out his CTR cams for my b16a cams plus some cash sence the guy hes selling it to probably wouldn't know the difference. He said he would probably do that if I did all the work. He said he would probably do it for $200!!!! He also has some JG cam gears on there that I may beable to get out of him as well.

I have one question, will I have enough valve clearence with my PR4 (LS) pistons, and b16a head (milled .020)? I really don't want to start knocking valves into pistons!!!

Correct. Unless you raise your redline above 8200rpm. If you keep the stock redline, you're fine with your stock valvetrain.

The cams cam from a b16a manual, unless they were swaped out somtime before the guy I bought them from got them. Im pretty sure Im getting plenty of fuel, Im running a mugen chip, and my FPG says 52psi at WOT.
