Default b16 in a 89 hatch vs 89 crx si

just went out racing last night this guy i know has a b16 with i/h/e and spoon ecu and stock lightened flywheel. this other guy i know has a crx si intake and B.S. exhaust. They line up both have dead even launch and all the way through 1 2nd and 3rd till the top of 3rd when the hatch beats the crx by only a fender. I couldnt believe it. I was like whats the deal with that. I know both guys and both can drive equally well.

I want some opinions is it worth doing that b16 swap or from that race if the guy swaped in a sohc vtec motor he would be maybe faster than the b16 just want to know peoples opinion on this.

That b16 must have been dead or dying. Usually a b16 in a hatch will run in the high 14's with a good driver. A CRX Si with boltons should run in the 15's or 16's depending on the type of bolt ons and the driver. JMO
