Hi all,

Thinking of doing a swap, not me but a mechanic, but I wanted to come in here to get some opinions first before going ahead with it as I'm not sure if it will work.

The host vehicle is a 2000 Acura 1.6EL (automatic) with 350,000kms on the body. Everything stock, no rust, rust proofed, garage stored. So I'm thinking of swapping in a B series engine that is currently in a 1995 Civic CX hatch. I was planning to just get the Civic h/b and drive it but the rear-quarter panel is already rusted and has a hole so I'm not sure how well it holds up in Canadian winter. That is a track car. I don't have either in possession, but are currently for sale. The 1.6EL has the same body as the '06-'00 4dr Civic.

That is what's currently on the Civic.
Firstly, should I even consider doing this?

If so, then I would like to know if the 1.6EL, going from A/T to M/T, is possible using the ITR tranny?
In addition, are the parts compatible and could everything be swapped to the newer car or some parts will be left out?
Would any modification need to be done, such as drilling holes, fitment issues?
Lastly, will I be able to retain the power features such as heated mirrors, sunroof, windows, etc?
This will be used for a DD, but will be a very mean one.

Why don't you just use the B20b engine from Honda crv??custom it with type-r head and head cover and use type-r camshaft (prefer B16b cam)...u will love the power...with only a simple tune by using VAFC, u can get around 200hp...if it is done by a good tuner.

Others...you can just use what ever u want.. just my 2 cents...

It really depends on what you're paying for both cars, ultimately it's your decision.

You can use the ITR tranny. This swap is exactly the same as swapping a B-series into a '96 - '00 Civic, strip the front and rear clip from an EL and it's the same shell as a '96 - '00 Sedan.

most of the parts will swap, but not all. The mounts and rear T-bracket wont swap, the lower control arms wont swap, nor will the proportioning valve. Wiring harness also doesn't swap Unless I missed something everything else will though. Oh and the subframe brace, that also wont work.

You'll need to drill 2 holes for the shifter for the two bolts that hold up the linkage at the back. You will also make some slight modifications to the wiring harness. You will also need a conversion harness for the ECU.

You can retain all the power features as well as the cruise control.

I just swaped and converted a b16a into a auto el and having a issue with idle bounces around at 1500 rpm im running a 00 si ecu i got a spare chipped p28 does the same thing. But when i had the engine in my 94 cx hatch no issues. Any help muchly appreciated
