Re: B series enine question.....help (alergic2fatchix)
that engine you posted the link to is a nonvtec b18b. they are from the integra LS/RS/GS 94+
does the valve cover look EXACTLY like the one in picture? if so, then it is a b18b.
there is an engine block stamp on the block that will give you the exact code, but this doesn't necessarily mean you have vtec or not since you can mate a nonvtec block to a vtec head.

You have there (either) an OBD-2 B18B LS motor from a 96-01 Integra, or a JDM B20B motor out of an 97-00 Orthia wagon.
Read what the block stamp says and you can tell what year the motor is as well.

yup, exhaust side, tranny side theres a stamp on the block... read it. by looking at the intake manifold on that motor, I believe its a B18B... simply because the B20 factory intake manifolds are quite tall.

Frankenstein motor refers to a VTEC head paired with a Non-VTEC block. B18b is a good motor as far as reliability goes and its not bad on power either(compared to similar sized motors by other manufacturers). Lower compression makes them a good canidate for boost (turbo or supercharger). Use the search function and I am sure you can find any info you are seeking.
