Awd eg civic Question
hey all, was just wondering if a eg rtsi rear subframe will bolt up to a normal fwd chassis. will it bolt directly? or will it need modification?
Thanks.
Thanks.

There are no bolts holes in a FWD EG chassis for the subframe to bolt up to. Plus, the original subframe for the FWD is welded into the chassis, so you'll have to remove that 1st.

oh ok, if you were to remove the rear subframe on the fwd, which i was aware of. could you just just drill the holes to suit? or is the chassis a different design?

I am also pretty certain that the trailing arms for the RT4WD are longer than the FWD ones, so the chassis is likely different as well. Don't know that for sure though. Most of the guys that have converted FWD chassis to 4WD have fabricated shortened trailing arms to fit the FWD chassis. The only exception that I've come across is the 88-91 Wagon in which the FWD chassis and trailing arms are the same length as the 4WD (my setup - RWD converted from FWD using RT4WD parts).
I don't think you can just drill the chassis and bolt in the subframe. It wouldn't take long for those bolt holes to tear out. Most of the guys here have either devised a custom welded in mounting for the read diff, or they've welded in hard points for the rear subframe to bolt to.
There's loads of info here for you to read if you do a search.
