auto manual engine transmission doohicky swap
Heres the situation. I have a bone stock '98 ex(automatic) civic. Im considering putting in a 2nd gen b16a into my car. Now i think ive figured a big chunk of the stuff out, but if i do swap in the b16 Im going to want a 5spd transmission. What are going to be the added complicatoins in doing this (this being switching form auto to manual)? I will be buying a complete swap. So far I figured out ill need a clutch pedal.. what else am i missing?

Re: auto manual engine transmission doohicky swap (deeeffache)
You will need the following:
1. Pedal assembly (clutch,brake,gas)
2. Shifter and shift linkage (should come with swap depending on where you get it
from)
3. manual ECU (again, should come with swap)
4. Clutch master cylinder and the hard lines that connect to the slave cylinder
5. A little bit of wiring to make the reverse lights work
Hopefully this will help you get started on the right path.

Re: auto manual engine transmission doohicky swap (ForceFedEG)
im not sure whether you will need a new tranny mount or not. ive been trying to figure out whether the 96-98 hatches can reuse the auto frame tranny mount meaning no welding. as far as i can tell, you only need to weld a new one on if your have a EG civic. someone correct me if im wrong. if im right, then you just use a manual bracket on the auto mount. you may need another manual tranny mount but im not sure on this either. not much help huh? no one mentions this extra mount but i have heard about it. so again, feel free to correct me people if im wrong.
