attn: anyone with knowledge of the h22 swap in a civic
why is it not possible to keep the a/c with this swap into a civic. is it a clearance issue or is it because of the civic a/c compressor not mounting to the h22 lower engine mount?
thanks,
brian

The civics AC compressor is like a 5 versus a 7 groove h22 pulley the line can be rigged by any hose repair shop but the real problem is the lower raditor core support If you have an eg or ek you would have to do some scary cuts. Ef dont even think about it.

no offense, but do either of you have this swap or have you been involved with the swap first hand?
if so...
dumbmadtech: my question still stands... what cutting?
gibbon: are you saying that if i get the h22 compressor that i wont have to do any cutting?

Its been a while but 2 years ago in Miami I hung out a shop that did one but they didnt use a mount kit. I was there helping a little and they basically did a cleanass hack job. So as far as the exact position of the mount kit's for sale and theirs they were able to keep the ac they cut the radiator core support. I think they had to change something on the line or lengthen it. Anyway the were able to make it work and keep powersterring. The car was a 96ex civic. But I dont know if it was a safe roadworthy swap. The motor was a Jspec 92 motor so this may be the AC problem from R12 toR134 im not sure but they kept AC. I guess a must for south Florida

Re: Well...
Use the H22 compressor, and make custom hoses. Clearance the core support to allow for the compressor clutch to spin freely. Mount the condensor fan on the front of the condensor.
It works easier with the Hasport kit because we place the engine a little further towards the passenger side of the car.
