Default Attempting first motor swap....few questions (GSR into Civic coupe)

Tonight I'll be taking out my friend's D-series motor to make room for a GSR going in. However, I have a few questions. I have been witness to many many swaps, but have never done any myself. I put in my own motor, but never took one out, plus mine is an Integra, not a Civic (I know I know, it's the same).
1) I don't have a balljoint remover. How can I get the axle out? Can I just wing it and unscrew it and just yank on it?

2) I don't have one of those center punch removers. How can I get the linkage out of the tranny? Would it be easier to just leave it in and pull out the motor with the linkages attached?

3) I believe I have to modify the driver's side mount. What exactly is involved?

Thank you very much. I can do pretty much everything (clutches, suspension, turbos, etc), but I never did anything as involved as a full swap. Hey, you gotta start somewhere, right?

As far as the Ball joints go, take out the cotter pin, unscre the nut, you can strike the control arm with a ball pein hammer, just make sure you hit the control arm and nothing else, and dont hit the bottome of the ball joint, you dont want to crown the threads over cause you wont be able to put the nut back on the ball joint. This is safe to do, i work at an Acura dealership in Pa, we do this to TL's CL's Rsx's and Integra's.

yes, thats what i would suggest, liek he said, hit it on the arm, NOTHIGN else, and as for getting the linkage out, since u dont have a punch, use one of the AC bolts, the bolt that is really thin and has a mushroom at the end, this usually works as far as punching the pin out, but it should work, good luck

you dont need to take off the lower ball joint. Just drop the entire lower control arm. I've done this about 5 times on all the tranny swaps ive done.

As the for shift linkage pin, I dunno about the ac bolt, but you better have the right punch otherwise that engine is not coming out

Okay, thanks guys. I got most of everything out. But now I have another question about the GSR going in.

I was told I need to modify the driver's side mount, I know how to do this, but I also heard that you need a new rear engine mount? What do I do with this one? I can't use the regular Civic one, can I?

Thanks.
