Re: anybody here do sr20det swaps? (turbotypeR)
I have a friend that has an S14 SR20DET in his '72 Datsun 510! And I'm planning on having an S13 SR20DET in my '69 Datsun 521 pick-up by July.

Screw Sr20's!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My brother is doing ca18det into his s13. If I owned a Nissan it would either be Ca18 or Rb25 for damn sure.

Well hey, you got one of the nice swaps going (rb25). The Nissan boys know that the sr20 is just a stroked cheaper replacement of the ca18. At least that's whats said in the CA section of NICO.

since nissan didnt have the vtec placebo back in the early 90's, displacment is important. both the sr20 and ca18 are tiny little engines that need turbos to be any fun. IMO just for parts availability the SR20 is better. I have a buddy with a CA, its fun to drive but not special at all.

The only thing that I don't like about the CA is that its a cast block. Heavy as hell compared to the SR. That, and try finding replacement parts stateside.

Who needs vtec when you have better overall power? That and you can get ~200hp out of a N/A SR20DE w/ ITB's. Much cheaper then honda/acura motors. Don't get me wrong. I love my Teg , but my days in the H/A scene are numbered.

when i had my 240 i looked into the ca but as jdmb16da6 said IT is impossible to find replacement parts for that motor. sr20=tried and trusted...Its a Real turbo motor, couple mods and your at 300 mark

Putting a S13 into a Nissan 240SX is kind of like putting a Prelude swap into an Accord, IMO. Just like any Honda swap, you bolt the motor/tranny in and start plugging in all of the sensors and hoses.... some of the stuff you'll need specifically off of the Silvia car as your 240 won't have it.
