any difference in 98/00 ls motors?
just seeing if there is any difference in obd2. i researched and didnt find much. if i remember right, there isnt anything different between the two, but i wanted to make sure. my friend can get me either a 98 or 00 ls motor. the 00 has less miles and i can get them for about the same price. its through his work, so i have to tell him soon, so i can reserve the motor.
it will be going into my 96 cx hatch. thanks for the help. if i forgot to mention anything, sorry. i'm at work and not suppose to be on my pc right now, so i have to make this fast!!!

I beleive those two years transition across the OBD2a and OBD2b point.
I think teg's were OBD2a unitl 99.
This will introduce some wiring changes. On civics, the O2 sensor moved from being tapped into the #3 runner to lower on the downpipe.
So you will have some subtle wiring differences. Other than that, I personally don't know of any other differences. But I mainly work on civics it seems...
Oh, if it's a 96 hatch, that is OBD2a, which might make your life a little easier going with the 98...
I reccomend re-using the enging wiring harness that the car came equipped with. And I always reccomend going OBD1, via x-over harness and ecu, cause it'll make more power.

hey man thanks for the help. i was thinking along the same lines as you. i think i'll just stick with the 98 motor and use the cx wire harness. i'll just repin the ls plugs to match up with the ecu.

I'm sorta hung over so bear with me.
Since the chassis is 96, the 98ls ecu should plug right in, I think.
I Don't think an integra engine harness is giong to plug up at the shock towers... I would probably get an ex engine harness, so you're vtec is already there, and all you have to run is knock and IAB.
Do a little more research, I'm not confident about the info Im giving ya, sorry.

96-99 Integra's are OBD2
00-01 Integra's are OBD2B

Motor wise there really isn't much a difference, the difference is the ECU's. The 00-01 have an immobilizer built in.

I would go with the 00 motor since the OBD issues are really taken care of as to what ECU plan to use. If you want to stay OBD2, use a 96-99 LS ECU for plug and play or you can covert to OBD1 with an ECU jumper harness.
