i've read katman's wiring info, but i'm running a modified p28 ecu. i'm having trouble starting the damn thing. If any knows anything or has any suggestions, please help me out.

That could be the battery, starter, no spark, no fuel, etc. Maybe it's not wired up properly... If you are running a modded P28 that would mean you went OBD1, what all have you wired up, which engine harness did you use? What have/haven't you done? You need to be more specific about your setup and as to what's going on besides that the car won't start.

battery is good, i'm getting spark, starter is good. It's like it'll ignite, give a good rev to about 1500, then die. At first i thought all i needed was a valve adustment ( i have the BC spec 3 cams on there) ... i performed that, still the same thing.

I figured since i was running the obd1 ecu, and still using my stock DX harness, i wouldn't need to perform all the wiring fixes ... was i wrong? should i still repin the plugs? i also checked to see what codes the ecu mught be throwing, and well nothing pops up.

Since you're reusing your DX engine harness, did you perform the IACV fix on it?

If you didn't, you need to.

Also, what valve lash spec did you set your BC cams to? and are you sure your cams are set to TDC? You might be off a tooth or so which would make your car run like doo doo.

I found the problem .... My "home-made" ECU harness was bad. I plugged in my DX ecu and the thing started. So i'm hoping the new one i'm getting works better. Funny how the sim[lest things are overlooked. Thank for your input guys.

FYI:
i did the IACV fix, but i didn't re-pin it b/c i was using the jumper ....timing is perfect; and i set the valve clearance according to the spec. sheet (.007intake and .008 exhaust)....is that cool?

alright ...... i got my obd2b-obd1 conversion harness today. The car doesn't want to start again. I'm getting pretty frustrated with this.

maybe your OBDI ecu is toast. Put it in a friends OBDI car and see if it'll start.

just to update anyone following - the car has been up and running for about a week or so. but now the poor guy is battling tranny leakage.
