GS-R has a factory installed girdle on the mains for support, that requires creative machining to an LS block for installation. simply put, it's stronger.

The machining isn't that bad....60 bucks at a local machine shop here. That includes moving the 2 side dowels and placing 6 dowels in the corner and sides and cutting the caps.

Was there a point to using the LS head other than being different? I'm seriously asking that, as I definitely am unsure. I was under the impression that the GSR head flowed better than the LS head.

are you talking about the intake manifold or the exhaust manifold? the intake manifold clearly says edelbrock on it, as far as exhaust manifold..?
