Default already prepped ls Vtec head back onto vtec block possible?

Hey everyone.I've been here years back.now here I am.hopefully ill be. Here forwhile.this is my "fisrt post".hopep this iis in correct place.

Well fisrt off I'm gathering stuff little by little, planning on building a turbo gsr.well I just
Purchased a gsr head off a guy.he said it was ls vtec when he had it.well what I'm wondering
Becuase it has the set screw mounted(underneath the head).if I remove that screw, and put the head back on a gsr block.would there be a possility that it could cause oil leak?just wondering because it would have to be tapped for the screw to go in wouldn't it?

I know I gotta replug the back of the head.I just kinda was curious if taping it woulda affect size of oil hole and case issues when head and block mounted together.

I've googled, and found it yes I could use a ls vtec preeped head by plugging back of the head and unplugging oil set screw..but I just want to be double assured.

Or should I try and buy the rest of the ls vtec kit off the guy and use it on gsr block so I wontt have to worry about it?

Route the oil feed on the outside of the engine.

You can't guarantee that hole is OK to be used again after tapping. A leak on the outside of the engine, is much easier to repair in this case. Keep it LS-VTEC style. You'll be fine.

Kool, your right about that paton5g...probably stick to that.I was also thinking since its already tapped removing set screw could also do some damage too..thanks for the info.very much appreciated.

Hey....any one know if I should leave the oil hole on the block open?? Or should be plugged too?think there would be any problems if its left open while the head is plugged?

I forgot to mention that before. You'll want to seal the one on the block as well. It could leak during operation and it will be a pain to repair after the engine is assembled. With both sealed you will be routing the oil completely on the outside, with no worries of any leaks. Should be just as easy as sealing the hole in the head. Drill out, tap and thread in a plug. Make sure all those shavings are out of the engine though. Compressed air is your friend. Be sure to use a copper or brass plug. That's what Honda uses.
