All wheel drive parts in 2 door civic ????
Does anybody know if the allwheel drive stuff would fit in a 88-91 civic or crx si, if you could find a all wheel drive civic from the same years ? I've been thinking about it. Just think about a turbocharged allwheel drive civic si.

I doubt it would work but the CRV is all wheel drive custom cut weld and jerry rigg that **** in there and slam a vtec b series engine in and you got some crazy ride. Just think about it would be a pretty tiiiiiiittttteee little ride.

You could try. I've heard the idea bantered around before, but evidently the CRV system would only be good to about 200hp, about which time it would frag itself... the AWD Civic wagon has roughly the same problem.
Forgot to mention: It's probably *heavy* as all hell, too... how 'bout adding a good 100lbs to the car? Just pick up an LSD and some sticky tires...

Yeah, the rear axles on the CRV are tiny, they would break on a launch if you even had moderate power.

Thanks for the reply. I know that they made a allwheel drive civic of the same years, and if all the cars use the same basic platform could i make it work with a shorter driveshaft. Not real sure where the driveshaft runs under the car? Even at 200 hp with allwheel drive, in a civic si with the added pounds would be great . Just think about a honda beating the new wrx at its own game.

as long as you have a welding torch, anything can be done. even if it only had 200hp it would still be a very sweet ride.

Many of us have dreamed of this setup. The problem isn't in the concept it's in the parts. The stock honda AWD parts could never handle any real power. The rear drive shafts are toothpicks and the transerfer case/rear dif are too fragile. It would blow up in short order if you tried to push it.
OT. Hey guys. Is it true that Honda briefly made an AWD Prelude? i've heard that somewhere but i've never personally ran into one. It's prabably rare as hell if it even exists.

You're probably thinking about the All-wheel-steering Prelude. I think it was in the 1st gen preludes (i'm not even sure how many gens there are...two generations ago...there!). They didn't move too much though.
