Done about 10 builds or swaps....never done that before. I just put fluids in...let the fuel pump prime up and turn it over.

Upper cylinder lubrication.
Use storage foam (people use it to store engines like lawnmowers) or WD-40. Or, just don't use anything at all.
Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't.

So I guess it really doesn't make any difference. Thanks!

Don't most people use assembly lube on the engine anyhow?

When you start a motor after is has been sitting a while, I always unplug the coil and crank the motor over until the idiot oil light in the dash goes out. This way I can confirm that the oil pump is infact circulating the oil. You can dump a little oil in the cylinder. About a teaspoon or so will help to raise compression with dry rings.
