99-00 Civic SI motor into 5th gen! QUICK question!
Allright heres the dillio,
Ive got a b16a2 outta a 99 or 2000 SiR-II and a 93' Civic that its going into.
Now numerous people have told me (steve at HMO as well if that means anything) that this'll be basically a direct bolt in swap aside from wiring vtec and extending a few wires. BUT, Ive also read that it isnt just a bolt-the-******-in-and-run-wires type of swap.
I'm wondering what the OBD issues are? I know theres OBD2, OBD2.2, and prolly a few versions, and i know my car is OBD1 and I guess the 1996+ are OBD2 (?)
So im just here looking for a straight forward answer. Do I need an OBD2-OBD1 conversion harness like this one? Also, do I use the engine harness thats allready in my car? or the one from the SiR-II?
Thanks in advance, I just wanna run into the LEAST amount of problems when I take the weekend to do the swap and be without my car for the shortest time (bus sucks )

96-98 are OBD2 and 99-00 are OBD2.5. Try to find you a P28 ECU. And you can use your old wire harnees but you might have to get some of the plug off of SiR. Im not sure about the motor mount but im pretty sure you gonna have to get you a Hasport motor mouth kit.

If you have a/c you will need the del sol vtec a/c bracket. The driver's upper motor mount, you will want to use a 92-95 civic ex/si mount for. The rest of the mounts, you will use the si one for. For wiring, just use the stock harness from your old motor and wire it up to the motor. You will have to do some soldering for the alternator and the injectors since the plugs are different. If I remember right, you will need an obd1 distributor. Then you will need to wire up VTEC and the VTEC pressure switch (if your car isn't an ex or si) If you are using a p30 or p61 ecu, you will also need to wire up the knock sensor, but if you get a p28 and have it chipped for DOHC VTEC, you don't need the knock sensor.
