MEGASQUIRT( i want to try it for my k series build)
so after reviewing/reading up and researching all the standalone ecu's. comparing their software/features.......... i decided to go the OPENSOURCE route.
the build is a k24/k20 into a 1993 civic ex coupe, hybrid mounts, and a wet nitrous shot
has anybody ever ran/played with megasquirt w/ a k motor?
also: before saying hondata's Kpro will be better........... not it won't. it is not even close to a standalone, and everybody should stop refrencing it as one.
a k pro unit is just an advanced piggyback, utilizing the stock ecu with a programable daughter board on the inside of the ecu to manipulate the stock honda code
if you guys did'nt understand any of that.........it just means that hondata's K pro IS NOT a standalone

If you are familiar the system, go for it, why not? We used sds in the past on a b-series, the hardest part was trying to find someone local who knew how to tune with it.

Re: MEGASQUIRT( i want to try it for my k series build) (RS2 FAB)
Hi,
I have been using Megasquirt for 6 years now on my racing car and have been really satisfied. It is affordable, can be configured to work with various inputs and outputs, and you have control over everything, fuel,spark,boost...
My main concern at the beggining was its durability, but although I soldered this unit myself ( for few bucks more proffesionally built units are available) never had any problems with it.
One can change all parameters in real time, do datalogging (I datalog all my races), use O2 sensor feedback to adjust fuelling in realtime (I use it with wideband sensor even when racing).
Megasquit community is large and very helpfull and all info and answers can be found on Megasquirt forums.
I run it on Fiat engine (our racing Civic is still on Webbers :-) ,but principle would be the same.
Sorry if I missed the point, Drazen

not quite.. hondata products are basically rom editors (unless k-pro is different). Piggybacks manipulate signals going to the ECU (which is gay).
the fact that it is NOT a standalone but retains the oem functionality is a huge pro, not a con for most setups on here.
