Need information concerning 97 Civic EX automatic getting a 92 civic transmission
Hi. I am the owner of a 97 civic EX with an automatic transmission. I love my car except for the fact that it is an auto. Recently i purchased a used transmission for my car (i believe that it is a 92) and I am going to retrofit it to fit into my civic. I have much mechanical experience and am not afraid of this daunting task.
Most people i talk to say not to bother with that and just buy a new ride, but i like the idea of not having a friggin' car payment. The only thing that i have right now is the tranny.
I am wondering exactly what pieces (and where i can get them) i will need to complete the conversion. I also am aware that this tranny is a cable actuated, as opposed to the 6th gen having the hydraulic clutch.
I think that i need a 6th gen ECU, Shifter linkage, shift boot, cable assy from tranny to pedal, clutch pedal (or all three) assy, perhaps new axles (i dunno if the auto axles differ from the manual ones) and a whole lot of curse words when me and my buddies try to squeeze this bad boy in.
I know most people that do swaps start out with a manual but anybody with some knowledge that they would be willing to share would be awesome.
Thank you in advance..
Ben

All 92+ Civic transmission are hydraulic. If yours is a 92 then it shouldnt be a problem.
For the rest of the parts, you needs the manual pedals, manual ECU, master clutch cylinder and slave clutch cylinder. And of course a flywheel and complete clutch.

Actually, i have a correction. The transmission is a 91 and it is a cable clutch. Do you think that this will be possible?
