96 civic harness on gsr...please help ( crank postiioning sensor???) HELP
alright we are swapping a 96 gsr motor into a 96 civic, both obd2 cars. we are using the civic harness, which already has vtec and everything. the question is that coming out from the lower timing cover on the gsr is a plug. i think it is the crank positioning sensor or something like that. anyways there are two wores coming out of that. on the harness there is a plug with 3 wires. two wires are the same color but there is also a black(or dark brown wire also.) can we jsut use that or what please let me know asap.
thanks
thanks

thats the CKF (crank) sensor.
For this specific sensor, just color-match up the 2 wires that are used on the GSR's CKF sensor to the wires that are on the 96 EK wire harness. Then unpin the 3rd wire and leave it hanging or taped up (it wont be used).

Re: (c1civic)
Word katman on top of things. I just wanted to say that this sensor is ghey. Its called the crankshaft flucuation sensor and is sensors changes in speed on the crankshaft. If for some reason it goes over a certain limit then it tells the ecu there has been a misfire, hence more fuel. Ghey. Sorry for the rant im just dealing with this pos right now. Lates
