96-98 vs. 99-01 B18C1 into 96 Civic CX
I've started reading up to get prepared to purchase a GSR swap for my 96 Cx. Reading on Hybrid 6gen tech they recommend a 1996-1998 B series motor for a 1996-1998 Civic.
What is the difference in dropping a 96 vs. an 01 into my 96? I'm a little confused on the wiring at this point, but will worry about that after I figure out what year motor to get.
96+ is OBD2
I'd prefer to get a lower mileage / newer motor such as an 00 or 01 over a 96-98 swap.
Isn't there an OBD2a or OBD2.1 or some $hit like that for the 99+ models? I thought I remember reading that before....

There no difference between the 96-99 and the 00-01 gsr engine. Beside the year of course . For wiring, best bet is to find a 96-98 Ex harness. everything will plug up excet the cfk. You'll just have to extend a few wires. Do a search on the wiring you'll find all the info you need.

any swap would work, just need to run vtec wires, and re wire the IACV , becuase most of the SOHC non vtec's have a 3 wire IACV...you can run a obd2 p72, until you convert to obd1 like I did, and run a chipped computer
