Default 95 civic ex EJ1 transmission gears upside down!!!!

whats up guys i have a h22a swap in my ej1. it has the p2u5 manual accord transmission and the gears are upside down ! in other words 1st 3rd and 5th gear are not on top they are on bottom where 2nd 4th and reverse go and vice versa. ive been told to swap the shift linkage cables around and ive looked at both sides, where the connect under the hood and where they connect to the shifter and they dont look the same size to be swapping. do they mean that the engine side needs to be in the shifter side or just take one off and put it where the other goes ? any info would be great ! this is my daily driver and its kind of annoying driving it like that since the swap has happened haha

That sounds unique. I would list it as a Honda Special Edition or better yet "Limited Edition" and raise the price a few thousand dollars.

It would have to be swapping the lines. Take one off and put it on the other. Easiest start to solving your dilemma.

How many times did you stall this thing and red line it before you figured out what was going on?

i know right ! haha thats a great idea
but when i look at the 2 spots where the shift linkage connects they appear to be 2 different sizes so i dont know what to do. i can upload pics if it would make it easier but im not sure if i have to wait since im still a trial member. and i realized it was like that as soon as i first drove the car, i have stalled it once i think and i redline it all the time and still shifts fine its just awkward and i want my gears to be in the proper spots.

Do you have a youtube account and the ability to upload videos? If so make one and post it here. You can explain in greater detail on the video as well. I'll try and see if I can find a similar problem.

What model transmission are you running?

Does anyone know why the 4th gen cables work?? I was talking to a mechanic(my neighbor) about it and he doesn't think the longer linkage will do anything
Can someone verify or explain please ?? I dont have endless money to keep buying parts lool

It's not a longer linkage, it's how the shifter assembly moves the cables vs how you move the shift lever. The 92+ assembly pulls the cable when you pull the lever back, the 88-91 assembly pushed the cable when you pull the lever back.

88-91, cable below pivot (locate #35 on right):

92+, cable above pivot (locate #26 below **** on left):
