Default 93 ex sohc vtec into 88-91 hatch

my old lady wrecked her 93 ex coupe and i want to put her motor in an old skool style hatch. i know that all d series motors are the same. as far as i know i have to change my ecu and wiring harness. but with the harness what all needs to change? i have an idea and i think all i need to change is some plugs back to the circle cream plugs and that should be it. anyone got any other technicla advice?

if it is just the extra HP and vtec you are going for, it will be way easier to just put the EX head on your existing a6 block. this way you wont have to replace the harness and remove your engine, just add 2 wires and a ground to hook up the Vtec. as for the ECU, i dont much about what 88-91 have- obd0? you may need to buy a conversion harness to hook the vtec ecu (p28 = obd1) up to your harness. also the distributor may need slight fabrication to fit the vtec head. your hatch is so light, the swap is well worth it!

You may want to think about a ZC swap instead (more HP, more torque, and DOHC). Then you wouldn't have to mess with putting an obd1 motor into an obd0 car. The best way to go would obviously be to use a b16a from a JDM SiR1, but that choice is up to you.

Good luck.

the only reason i want to do it is b/c i have the motor in the wrecked car in my back yard and the car is going next week and i'll have the motor laying around and you can find old skool hatch's and crx's with no motors in my area that are in decent condition extreamly cheap (around 500$) so i was just going to do that so she'll have a ride since she doesnt have one now. thanks for your help man.
