93 Civic VX to JDM B16A 02 sensor Question...
I am using the VX harness on the B16A, and Im at the last of the wiring...the o2 sensor.
Which wires do I cut and splice for the standard 4 wire 02 sensor??
I have seven wires at the VX harness.

Re: 93 Civic VX to JDM B16A 02 sensor Question... (CanuckCRX)
- WHT wire from the O2 sensor goes to ORG/BLU wire goes to the D14 pinout
- GRN wire from the O2 sensor goes to GRN/WHT wire which is already spliced with the IAT (Intake Air temp sensor), and the EGR controls (which is not needed).
This is where it gets a little tricky:
- BLK wire from the O2 sensor goes to the Yel/Blk wire which by factory goes to the ORG/BLk wire which leads to the A6 pinout (which is what you need), HOWEVER, with the other BLK wire you will need to splice that at the Yel/Blk power junction harness.
You can cut off the Yel/Blk wire from the shock tower harness area and splice that to the Power Junction harness (which is near the Clutch Master Cylinder), and the ORG/Blk wire needs to go to the other BLK wire which you can add.
It's up to you.
HTH.

No because of the ECU configuration. You can wire it up to a 4 wire configuration, and have 1 extra wire for wideband, that's about it.

Re: 93 Civic VX to JDM B16A 02 sensor Question... (poison)
ECU configuration???
Ok...if the o2 signal wires for a VX and a CX,DX,SI whatever (OBD1) end up at the same pinout at the ECU, what is the difference in the o2 sensor you use...
That extra wire on the VX sensor will go wherever it goes, but since I have the B16A ECU, it doesn't matter because it wont be looking for the 5th wire...you know what I mean??

Yeah exactly, the VX pinouts though and wires are different. I'm just sayin with the P30 ECU, the heater control and o2 input may not be the correct pinout on actual O2 sensor.
The VX O2 sensor also gets power thru the A6 pinout, whre as the 4 wire O2 sensor is tapped in to the power junction harness (yel/blk wires).

Re: 93 Civic VX to JDM B16A 02 sensor Question... (poison)
Ok here is the simplified version:
GRN on 4 wire o2--->GRN/WHT at VX harness PIN D22 SENSOR GND
WHT on 4 wire o2--->ORG/BLU at VX harness PIN D14
BLK on 4 wire o2---->YEL/BLK at VX harness PIN A6 HTCNTRL
BLK on 4 wire o2---->BLK at VX harness GROUND
The other three leftover wires you can just leave them, because the P30, or in fact any regular 4 wire o2 sensor ECU, these wires are empty at the ECU.
PIN D16, PIN D3, PIN D8
Looks good??

Mainly everything is correct. You still dont' have power to your O2 sensor the way you wrote it up.
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">
BLK on 4 wire o2---->BLK at VX harness GROUND</TD></TR></TABLE>
Needs to be:
BLK on 4 wire o2 ---->Yel/Blk at VX harness to the A25 pinout
And for D3 pinout, the P30 will look for the knock sensor at that pinout. So you will need to wire up knock sensor to the pinout using the Blu/Yel wire available at that pinout.

Isn't that what the HTCNTL (o2 sensor heater control) does at A6??
The ECU I have is a chipped P70.

Re: 93 Civic VX to JDM B16A 02 sensor Question... (CanuckCRX)
Ok if you are reusing your VX harness it is a fix that requires no added wiring. You need to unpin the wires from the O2 plug on the engine harness. 4 of those wires will be repinned into a 4 prong O2 plug (if you have one) or directly wired to the 4 wire O2.
If you were using an engine harness that has the 4 wire O2 wiring embedded, it's a simple unpin and repin of 1 wire. But that's not the case here so it's a little more difficult
Here's a write up I did a while ago:
Converting 1992-95 VX to 4 wire O2 using VX engine harness
All wires are present except for the power input, but all wiring can be done using the existing wires in the engine and cabin harness. The following wiring will trace the wires, color-coded, from the engine harness side of the shock tower plug to the O2 sensor you are wiring. Most all wires have color changes at each junction.
D14 - ORG/BLU at O2 plug (engine harness side) - WHT (4 wire O2 plug)
D22 - GRN/WHT at O2 plug (engine harness side) - GRN (4 wire O2 plug)
A6 - YEL/BLK at O2 plug (engine harness side) - BLK (4 wire O2 plug)
There are 2 BLK wires and either one can make either connection. The second BLK wire needs to be connected at B1 or A25. The easiest thing to do is unpin D16 (BLU/GRN) at the ECU and tap it into B1 (YEL/BLK) or A25 (YEL/BLK). Then on the engine harness side O2 connector, connect the ORG wire to the BLK O2 wire.
