92 z6 block with 99 y8 head
i have a 92 z6 block and a 99 y8 head what do i have to do to make the motor work in a 00 ek dx or will in even work at all. i know i have to wire the vtec and do an iacv fix. i plan on using the stock wiring harness and a 99 y8 ecu. thanks for any info

You'll need to replace the Z6 oil pump with a Y8 oil pump and add the Crank fluctuation sensor. Replace the driver's side mount bracket with a 96-00 D series bracket and mount. Use and OBD2 distributor and injectors for plug and play or rewire the OBD1 parts which would also work, just more of a hassle.

to make wiring easier and adding deleting the need to add a Y8 oil pump to the a Z6 block, you can easily go OBD1 in your 00 DX buy running an OBD2b->OBD1 ec jumper harness and (OBD1) P28 ecu. Doing this will cut back on a lot of wiring hassles and OBD2 bs. But then again, I'm not sure if you're the type that wants to be completely smog legal n' all that.

Re: 92 z6 block with 99 y8 head (Katman)
smog does'nt matter to me. i was thinking about going that route anyways. can you please break it down on what i exactly have to do. getting the motor together with the y8 head will be no problem its just the wiring im not to clear about because of the fact that im using a z6 block with a y8 head. thanks for any help

ok, i just re-read my reply to you, and wtf did i say in that first sentence? ha!! What I meant was:
"to make wiring easier & to delete the need to add a Y8 oil pump to the a Z6 block.."
ok now, if you'd like to go the OBD1 route in you'll need these items:
- P28 ecu
- OBD2b->OBD1 ecu jumper
(I have both of these items for sale if you're interested too)
- Install the motor.
- Reuse your existing OBD2 electronics (distributor, injectors, engine harness, etc).
- Perform the IACV fix & wire in the vtec solenoid since you'll be reusing your DX engine harness. [If you getta 99-00 EX or Si coupe engine harness you won't have to worry about the IACV or vtec solenoid at all, its all integrated from the factory]
- Plug in the OBD2b-OBD1 jumper & P28 ecu. The P28 ecu doesn't look for the additional sensors that a normal 96-00 US civic has -- 2nd 02 & CKF (sensor integrated on oil pump).
It should run like a champ. That's pretty much it.
