Have you reset the ECU after making the change? Are you sure you're not throwing any additional codes or that you wired the O2 correctly?

the wires are right ( I think) . the car starts and runs poorly. the cel comes on but will not show any codes.

i'm using an obd2 integra engine harness to match my obd2 engine. I'm using 4 wire o2. I heard that vx under dash harness messes up the o2, in my case code 1. so i hooked up o2 right to ecu. but my car will not read any codes this way and the cell light stays on all the time.

yes because i'm using a obd2 engine. so what i have is an obd1 car (civic vx) obd2 engine with an obd2 engine harness with a chipped p28. so far what i've read is this is a vx cabin harness problem.

thanks for you help, but I know for a fact you can use obd 2 engine harness in obd1 car with an obd1 p28 I have four friends local than are doing the same thing. but I'm the only *** that has a vx. the vx comes stock with a 5 wire wide band o2 thats some how messing with my ecu. with the car set up plug and play, I'm showing code1 thats all. my car is running good, but too rich

He's right, your wires are wrong.

USDM JDM doesn't matter. OBDI + OBDII doesn't = OBDI.

i know im right about the OBDII to I thing. but im not going to waste my time arguing, im in the middle of pulling a motor.

but why dosent a JDM harness work with a swap then? with all the swaps ivve done/helped with a jdm harness is always ditched for the stock usdm harness.

with my first swap, we tried the jdm harness, threw like 24 CEL's engine barley ran.

the jdm engine harness is set up for right hand drive. all of the plugs are on the wrong sides reverse of or usdm car. I know the problem is in the vx dash harness some one with a vx please help. I don't want to have to put in a si dx or cx dash harness.

I have a 99 B18C1 in my 92 VX. The JDM harness will not work because it's from a RHD and the plugs are backward which has already been stated. If you had an OBDII 96+ GSR engine harness it would plug into the shock towers and work, which is the way I did my car. OBDII Integra engine harnesses are still 2 piece harnesses and work with the OBDI chassis, but that's not your problem.
I hardwired my O2 sensor directly into the ECU pinouts with my own wiring. I bypassed the engine and cabin harness completely. It sounds like you've done this as well but you're still getting a CEL so you don't have something right. I'm betting that you never used shielded wire on the WHT to D14. Not doing this will make it pick up electrical interference's and throw the CEL from time to time.

can you explain a "shielded wire on the WHT to D14" I'm dont know what a shielded wire is. I hope this is my problem. If it does not work i'm going to hunt down a cabin harness from any other model civic. thanks for helping

Shielded wire is a regular single jacket wire that has a bare braided wire wrapped around it then a jacket over both. The braided wire is grounded and shields the inner regular wire from electrical interference's from other sensors and electrical parts.

Make sure you have the wires going to the correct spots also. Even if your sure, check again.

yel/blk - A25 - 12V switched
org/blk - A6 - O2 heater control
grn/wht - D22 - sensor ground
wht/red - D14 - O2 signal wire

ON th vx harness the d14 wire is org/blue. I have the wire diagrams for both the vx and the other 92 civics. there is olny one wire that does go to the right spot on the shock tower conector, that is the d14 wire is in the little fourth conector that is only on the vx models . so i jumped from o2 singal on engine harness to blue/org on cabin harness still code one. so i changed o2 still codeone. so i put my ecu in my friends eg NO code one. I'm running out of ideas

i didn't need to buy a new shieled wire. I have a 92 vx. And there are a couple wire not being used. look at all the wiring on the ecu plugs, follow wires that say they don't need to be used, and see if they are shielded or not. I can tell becasue by the shock tower you can see some wires come out of 1 main shieled wire. Once i fould a wire that wasn't being used, i just used that one, switched the pin to the O2, and it worked. But i also had to wire up the other O2 wire. follow the wires, and make sure they are right. but once you start to follow other wires, you might run into other problems like I have. My evap purge wire goes into the pin for the IAT. im getting some headaches. people who say all you need to do is run the knock sensor and IAB are wrong. I have yet to figure out why my IAB isn't working. grrrrrrrrrrrr
