Default '92 Civic with GSR engine.... short through shifter?

i'm swapping a '95 JDM B18C into my '92 Si and i'm trying to find out if you can still use a short through shifter. i've heard people say it will work, but won't be as smooth.

i did a search and found it will work with a GSR engine and 96 - 00 civic. i'm assuming it's the same as long as i use a short shifter for the GSR. am i correct?

thanks in advance.
