Default 91 civic std. (4 speed)

im currently helping a freind swap a b16 into his 91 civic but upon searching through http://www.hasport.com i found that they recomend that i swap the knuckle from any other 5 speed civic or crx over to my freind civic. i really dont know why but maybe someone could help...

i really want to know if this is completely neccesary to work the b16 into this chasis?

The hubs in the civic standards and hf's are smaller than any other civics and the b16 axels will not fit because they have too many splines. You need to get a set of knuckles off of a 88-91 civic or crx dx or si.

You could get a pair of 90-93 Integra ones from JDMHondaparts. This would change over to the correct spline hub and upgrade to larger rotors/brakes at the same time. They are selling them for $99 a pair which isn't bad because it includes the calipers and all.

i got knuckles at the junkyard for $10 each for my 91 civic std.

the junkyards will try and sell you the whole front suspension, but you only need the knuckle. your stock brakes will swap onto the new knuckle.

one more quick question. would i need to change the whole kunkle or just the hub?

also if i wanted to go with the integra front brakes what year would i need to source the knuckle from?and would it just bolt on with no problem?
thanx again

That picture is of the bearing. Replacing the hubs, even if it would work, is way more trouble than just buying the whole knuckle. You need to buy the hubs, and new bearings alone will probably cost around $100, not to mention installation.
