90 civic swap
I just got a free 90 civic dx...its auto. What do I need to swap a B series and convert to 5 spd? Are the mounts or anything different? I have done a B16 CRX si swap before. Just never anything auto. Thanks for any info.

It's a direct bolt in with a B series mount kit. I have a 91 CRX DX that was auto and I went with a 96 B18B1 with 92 YS1 GSR cable tranny using HASport billet mounts. Unlike the 92-95 Civic's the 88-91 models use the same passenger side upper tranny mount bracket in the auto and manual cars. A lot of people were telling me before the swap that the brackets are different but that aren't.
All you'll need to do extra over the B16 in the CRX Si you did will be to wire the DPFI to MPFI. Then with the auto to manual change you will need to run the reverse lights from the shifter wiring out to the tranny, drill holes in the floor to mount the linkage/shifter and rewire around the interlock switch.

Check out the new HASport kit that allows the use of a B series hydro tranny in the 88-91 chassis. Other than that, you'd have to custom fab something.
