4G63T (dsm) swap?
I have heard about this a few times and was just looking for any info/pics/etc that I could find. After searching google for awhile and not coming up with anything I thought I would ask here.
I am sure a lot of you dont approve of this or whatever. I understand that. I am just looking for more info, please dont post your opinion here.
thanks

Re: 4G63T (dsm) swap? (2old_honda)
The 6bolt 4g63 is probably the toughest four cylinder motor there is. At least stock many people take stock internal 4g63s well into the high 400 hp range. I have never seen a 4g63 in a honda but it sounds like a damn good Idea to me. I have seen it in a porshce before so if you can make it work in a porshce you can do it in a honda.. Let me know if you figure it out.. I have been building dsms for years.. Got a bunch of parts for one if you decide to give it a whirl

Asking about something like this and then not expecting to get any opinions on it... not gonna happen
Sure if you search hard enough you will find that people swap damn near anything under the hood of Honda's as well as other cars. I just think that it's senseless to do this particular swap in a Honda. Sure the 4G63 is a good turbo motor and can handle more boost than a stock Honda block, but look at just how "efficiently" they use the power. I'm schooled on some DSM stuff but the #'s I'm not so sure of so don't hold me to these exactly. Stock 4G63's run about 15 lbs. of boost stock and make about 200hp, ok now put that in the terms of a sleeved Honda block - 15 lbs. is gonna put down way more. Sure you have to sleeve it and run some forged internals for it to last, but chances are the price of that would be considerably less than what it would take to fit a 4G63 into a Civic. Then not to mention you still only have a marginally decent motor if you did get it installed and running properly.

I had 3 dsm's before I bought my 2 hondas and was forced to change my screenname from fasmofo to slomofo...j/k. I think it would be a great swap choice.
Look at it from this view, K20's cost $5-6k for the swap alone, people spend another $2-3k for the installation, then they're faced with fabricating they're own fuel feed and return system, exhaust manifold, radiator mounting/hoses, shift linkage, etc. Then there's the wiring, the people who pioneered this swap didn't have a plug n play harness, they had to deal with hours of "cut+shrinkwrap+solder+heat the shrinkwrap+tape+plastic looming". If any of you had the money, you'd jump on this nightmare in a heartbeat.
4G63T is dirt cheap, $500-1500. You deal with the same crap with the wiring, mounts/axles have to be fabricated as well, fuel lines are in the same location as honda, motor/tranny is the same side as honda as well, AWD could be accomplished in 88-91 civics using the AWD civic wagon rear diff/axles/rear suspension. EG, DC's could use the CRV rear suspension, or the 4WD Integra XSi rear diff/etc. .Overall this swap wouldn't be as hard as everyone thinks, but just because this dirt cheap, bullet proof, cast iron, 7.9:1, closed deck block with strong internals capable of 400+hp, more advanced hydraulic roller lifters, and an aluminum head with square (Better for turbo) combustion chamber doesn't bear the Honda name, you people would never imagine doing this swap.
I found a link a while back and posted it https://honda-tech.com/zero...age=1 .

I've had owned a build FWD 90 & 92 DSM, and to get that motor into a nice light EG.. Would be way to much fun to drive.. Then pop the hood and **** off Honda & DSM guys all at the same time.. Just like seeing and nice older Ford with a Chevy motor because there cheaper to build..

I hate to revive an old thread, but here's another link that shows more detailed pics. http://forums.evolutionm.net/a....html
I've been contemplating this swap for nearly a year now and I think that when I get back to the U.S., I might buy a hatch and start work.

Interesting, not only did they use the motor buy they also used the AWD system.
