2000 EM1, what block to make more torque?
I've got a virgin b16a2 in my 00 si. It's got all the bolt ons (4-1 header, skunk2 catback, intake) and an ITR tranny. I'm trying to decide which block I should start shopping around for that while give me the most midrange torque that will bolt up directly to my a2 head. Trying to keep the cost low and I've heard the b20's go for pretty cheap. With my itr trans I drive between 2.5-4k rpms and would love to boost the torque in that range.
Pros, cons of b18b vs b20? GSR to keep the compression up?

I read a couple other topics on the same subject and everybody seems to be split between b20 and b18b. I should have been clearer in asking which B SERIES block would increase my torque, and would also bolt directly up to my a2 head with the LEAST amount of work/extra parts and also be reliable.

If you've read you should be able to compare pros and cons yourself. B-series aren't that torquey anyway. Toss that B- and drop in an H.

If I was you I would get a type r block, you already got the transmission it will go well together. With the B20 you have to run a new oil line which basically means you have to do a b20 v tech mod. Which you will have to do more work and put in more money. The type r block will give you more than what you need and it will just bolt on. Hope this helps.

but i thought he asked for torque? if its gotta be B series obviously the B20 is going to give you more torque....and as far as the oil.....dude come on its a friggin $100 ordeal that takes about 30 minutes to run so come on. you just buy the eagle or blocks KIT. end of borey.....yawwwnnnn anyway you look at it though your still just going to get spanked on regardless. its not 2005 anymore everybody's fast now. my honest advise to you is keep your existing B16 and turbo it, that will be the most fun, and probably would only cost you 1500 more than doing your b20 thing.

agreed. b20 vtec isn't going to be all that much better, i don't think you'll be all that impressed, and like i said your still gonna be getting spanked.
