1997 civic ex y8 swap
Needing another engine in my Civic and it's a D16y8. Tiger JDM sell a ZC/D16A vtec 96-00. Are these the same engine? Cause the Y8's have a poor oiling system.
Thanks

Very similar. The D16A won't have the CKF sensor by the crank. You'll either have to bypass it or swap over oil pumps and CKF sensor. Can't confirm but the D16A probably has the same crank and oil system as the Y8. Change your oil regularly and don't drive it to 8K rpm daily and the engine will last a long time. I've had plenty of Y7/Y8's that went well above 200K with no rods thrown or bearings scorched.

I was just looking for a straight swap . It's a daily driver and don't have time to play wiring games with it. It rarely sees 3500 rpm. As far as (Tiger) I guess I will have to keep looking . Nippon Motors were completely out of this motor

Improvement for the Y8/Y7 oil pumps. did this to my daily driver 40k miles ago. I ask a lot from it and expect a lot and it hasn't failed me yet.
Recently had a good experience with TigerJapan, but maybe I got lucky. put a F22B (F22B2 equivalent) with auto trans included into a '95 Odyssey. price was right, engine condition was as advertised, shipping took a little longer than expected, but not bad.
Enjoy your wrenching!
