you'll need to run 3 wires from the ecu, where the stock non-vtec harness (i assume), doesn't have them.

there are pin-outs on this site, or at hybrid.honda-perf.org

they have a how to on the wiring section on that site if you can't find them here. hth

If when after the motor is in, and theres a green plug for the vtec solenoid on the front passenger side of the tower on the head, then you'll be all set.

The car is wired for vtec at the shock tower to the ecu. If you use the z6 engine harness it will be plug and play.

Which d15b motor? The dx motor or the jdm d15 vtec motor? If it is the dx motor you will need to add plugs and wire in the pins at the shock tower for the vtec sol and the vtec pressure switch. Im not sure if you need to wire for knock. I dont think so though. Hope that helps.

everyone is so quick to jump on the search bandwagon. I did search for a long time and get mixed answers all around. EVen in this post

I want to talk to someone who actually did it.

and if you know how to search for 92 on HT let me know cause it wont let you. I found tons of info on cx swaps and old crx swaps with the d16z6 but none for a 92 dx swapping a d16z6

but yes it is the usdm d15b7 i believe. Not the vtec one from japan

Since your car is a 92 it is prewired for VTEC from the ECU to the shock tower as mentioned. Since you are using a stock nonVTEC engine harness you only need to make the connection from the VTEC solenoid and pressure switch to the shock tower plugs. If you don't own the Helm's electrical manual (which you should) I'm sure if you search enough you will find the wiring info. that you need. There are 3 wires but you only need to run 2 wires (1 VTEC solenoid, 1 VTEC pressure) to the passenger side shock tower plugs and make the proper connection. The second wire for the VTEC pressure is a ground which can be grounded anywhere, the common sensor ground on the thermostat is best if you want to make it wired up like stock would be.

thank you thank you vtecvillan

we stayed up for 36 hours doing this swap and didnt think of reading the electrical section of the helms.

I dont have the book on me at this second but do I have to get a plug from the junkyard for the vtec selinoid? or can I just wire it up with crimpers?

I did a D16Z6 in a 92 Civic CX. Yes the wiring harness to the shock tower comes pre-wired. I had the D15B8 (8 valve engine). I used the wiring harness off of it. The only thing u should need is to wire in VTEC, (3 wires), and make sure the o2 plug is a 4 wire setup off the harness. If not, then u will have to run 3 more wires. Other than that its plug and play. Good luck.

yeah i am pulling off the O2 sensor from my old one and putting it on the turbo's DP.

Is there a special tool to get the 02 sensor off?

but aside from running 3 wires can I just hook them up or do I need a clip for the vtec selinoid
