08 civic 4dr Bswap?
Hey everyone i just had a question for all of you. One of my buddies told me an sir in a 08-11 4door would be a dumb idea and cost me around 5000$ just for the swap. So my question is, is it doable and how much would it cost. I have a 95 hatch sir with the engine tranny clutch and chipped computer that runs everyday so im not looking for an engine just the price of the swap itself.

I've never seen it happen, nor do I see the point. a k series drops in and has better power. sell it and buy an si. boom. everything is upgraded.

i dont understand why it is a dumb idea? im tired of my 95 hatch but not my sir engine with 20,000 on it so i want a new body with the same engine what is dumb about that? and an sir correct me if im wrong is far superior to an si. as for getting a kseries i simply dont want to because everyone has it now and why not try something different. i was looking for a simple is it possible and how much would it cost not ''ìt is a dumb idea''.

because 8th civics weigh something like 2700-2800 pounds. a b16 in a lighter 5th gen is already slow. throw another couple hundred pounds into the mix. go drive an 8th civic with the r18 in it. it'll feel like that, except worse.
nobody makes mounts, wiring, axles, or any other parts you would need to do this because it's a stupid idea. there's being different, then there's stupid.

is there a stick in your *** today or are you always like this? that was a good answer thank you its what i wanted to know now you can cut out the attitude its completely unnecessary. People go to forums like this for help not for ignorance and rude comments. thanks though for the small bit of useless information among the rest of the gargage your typing on your computer.

i don't get it. You can just buy an Si which has better suspension, brakes, and 200hp 2.0L, and an LSD.. but you want to put a smaller engine, with less hp, into a car with crappier brakes, weighs more than the car the engine originally came out of, and would require a ton of work to make fit. All for the sake of being different. Ooook.
Why not just turbo/supercharge the r18? Makes way more sense.

First thing, what is your mechanical skill level? We talking oil changes and basic parts swaps, or full fabrication and years of mechanical experience? This would be a difficult task for a skilled builder with all the required tools, let alone a guy in the average home garage or even in your driveway
You would never ever pass any type of emissions or inspection with that motor, and many of the electronic functions in the car won't work, speedo, tach, airbags and safety features. All that is operated and interfaced with the factory Ecu. Gauges operate on a different signal than the b series engines with the matching Ecu.
You might be able to physically get it in, if you have custom mounts made, custom wiring, custom radiator, ac and power steering will be almost impossible to figure out.
Honestly by the time it's all said and done you have a $30000 civic with 140hp that already has a lot of miles on it. It's still a 20 year old engine, parts are wearing out and becoming harder to find replacements.
Don't think of these guys trying to bust your *****, they're trying to save you from diving into something that is 99% likely to fail.
