I would say yes as long as you don't do a lot of freeway driving. The Si's shorter gears will make the RPM's much higher when cruising in 5th. That isn't healthy over time for the LS since it wasn't designed for such constant high RPM's.

all you guys need to do your homework. 99' si trannies are not that close. the close b16a transmission is the y21:us del sol vtec/jdm eg or the jdm s4c:ek, not the us s4c/99 si. the us version has a close,b16a gear set, but a 4.266 final drive, (same as ls) i can't wait to hear all the people on here tell me how wrong i am and say "99' si's have 4.4's!!"

i have an ls motor with a b16 tranny. It seems like you have to shift more often....but it hella quicker and feels like it acclerat faster man. Like what i m going to do...i recommend that you run the b16 tranny w/ ls 5th gear if you are going to go on the highways.

B16 is great for NA tune-up man.

you knew it was coming, take it from someone who has pulled apart 99-00 SI trannies a number of times..... some of them DO have 4.4's.... i know you know what's poppin Steve but i have pulled trannies directly out of non-tampered with cars and counted the teeth on the ring gear. there are 66 teeth on some of them which make it a 4.4. i have also taken them out and found 4.26's.... Eugene will tell you the same. (when are you going to get a haircut????)
