Default ** 98 JDM itr motor/ EG cx hatch, what ecu to use? help!**

i know this topic has been covered about 100 times. I did a search and tried my best to come up with some good answers to my questions.
my question is I have a 93 civic hb CX and i also have a 98 JDM itr motor, i know using a p28 ECU would work.
Is the P28 ecu all plug and play?
also the ecu im getting with the 98 JDM itr motor would be obd2, so if i receievd an obd1 ecu from an earlier type r say 96 spec, would that ECU work? or would i HAVE TO get the P28 ecu?
im not trying to user a jumper at all, but trying to find to a compatable ECU.
im not looking to spend any more $$ on a chipped ECU right now because of some $$ issues , but trying to get my motor running properly.
ANY POSITIVE feedbacks would be appreciated. thanks

Ya, the P28 will plug right in.

I would most definitely use the P28 ecu, because if you use an OBD2 jumper harness from OBD1->OBD2, then you will need to wire up the CKF and several other sensors, when the P28 will just plug right in and the sensors can be left unplugged as they are not looked for with the P28.

You will just need to wire up VTEC (three wires), and convert to a 4 wire O2 sensor as both pinouts for OBD1, then you are good to go.

You can ALSO run a P30 ECU from a JDM second gen B16A or the US del Sol VTEC (B16A3).

With this, you would have wire up knock sensor to D3 because the P30 looks for one, while the P28 does not.

You can run the factory P28 fuel mappings and such, but I would definitely recommend getting a chip for it asap, so you can run full potential of the motor.

Heh... buy one of mine if you want one .

Either the JDM P30 or the chipped P28 work the best from what I've seen... unless you go Hondata or actually wire up the car to work with the OBD-2 ITR ECU (which I know somebody who did go through the troubles of doing that... crazy, and he agreed afterwards but it liked how it ran).

If its a JDM ecu as well, King Motorsports makes an adapter harness to plug in the ITR ecu to your harness. I would recommend getting an Integra LS engine wire harness for your car so you don't have to do the O2 wiring. Keeps it clean looking.

If you use the P28 in stock form you run the REAL risk of being too lean on the top end. If $$$ is an issue I would get a B&M FPR and boost the baseline fuel pressure a little but then you will run a little too rich on the low end (but that's safer)

The real solution (as mentioned above) is to get the P28 Chipped
