I am using '01 ITR cams, outer v. springs, and Portflow ti retainers and inner v. springs. Good so far. I have taken it to 8k several times and even past on accident.
As far as pistons go, everybody is going to say something different. Personally I am using JE's.

If you're not going to rev that high, I'd say Type R cams like someone mentioned, Skunk Stage 1, or Toda Spec A. All would give you a good bump in power once tuned and you don't have to take the motor to high RPM to make all your power.
Valve train upgrade is minimal as well.

Re: *** CAMS for LS/VTEC???? *** (ill phil)
yah i saw a comparison between the jun 3's, todas(didnt specify but i thik it was the c's) and ITR cams and the funny thing was that the r cams were only a few hp lower then the rest but had the best mid range power! i tihk it was only like 6 hp differnece! and im gonna go CTR which are a liitle more aggressive so probably a little better even!
what valve train should i go with using the ctr cams??
thanks

I have heard that the '01 itr and ctr have the same intake cam and yes the exhaust cam is the same amongst the itr and ctr.
