VTEC controller

are they worth the money they cost? also are they difficult to install? will any vtec controller work with any vtec motor?

Re: VTEC controller (Hondageek)

Not worth it on the 9k S2k, unless you suck and drop out of VTEC all the time.

Wait... you're 17. Buy one, and set it at 4000rpms.

Re: VTEC controller (FR-MOB: Projekt)

what happens when you get it that low? i know on a 6800 redline motor it messes it up under 4600. i dont drop out of vtec but i saw some guy on there with a pic of one and didnt really know how cost effective it would be. dont they also have a setting to make vtec hit a little bit harder?

Re: VTEC controller (FR-MOB: Projekt)

just a K&N filter with lowering springs. (not like that matters about the controller.) 02 model.

revhi 05-07-2006 07:44 AM

With a VAFC and some tuning you could lean out the car a bit and lower the vtec for smoother transition. It could pick up 5-10 whp.

Dude harsh, lol

I agree with revhi the vafc is good for mild tuning and playing with your vtec, get it on a dyno for best results. :tu

a vtec controller is about.. $200. if you save another 800$ isntead of buying one you almost have an AEM EMS. thats the way to go.

p.s. post pics please.

https://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h...0/S2010179.jpg https://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h...0/f4066318.jpg 1000 is a ton of money. i just thought it might be a cost effective first modification. think ill just do a DC header and then a N1 exhaust with the aem intake or something and then worry about computer work.

Mase (our moderator) tuned my VAFC. Gained 7hp peak and 5 ft-lb torque, however he got big gains on mid-range. Yes, he did lower VTEC engagement to about 4800 rpm, but the results were excellent. Gained 25hp and 15 ft-lb between 4-6k rpm. Was worth it for me. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Nothing wrong with used...I've seen perfect VAFC 1's go for $100 and VAFC 2's for $170 on eBay.

not to bash on you, but that has to be the worst picture ive ever seen. Were you trying to get the shot as out of focus as possible?

Re: VTEC controller (Hondageek)

if you are just doing base modifications (I/E/H) they are good, anything more, you might as well buy e-manage or aem ems

you can find vafc's on here for dirt cheap...theres a guy selling the vafc ver. 1 on dragva.com for 130...the vafc2 usually go around 150-200 if you look hard enough...people on s2ki mark up their prices on them so just buy it off a civic or teg owner

If your going to dump serious cash into your S do it right or dont do it at all. (DC Sport is not the way to go)

I have had mine for almost a year now, and its completely stock except K&N filter. BUT i also have serious $$$ saved for a Turbo setup, exhaust, and new tires in the next few months.

You have to be wise about spening money on your s2000. Rushing into buying something that later on down the road you will end up selling is not going to better anyone except the RICED out civic owner you just made happy. Like people have said over and over again even to vets on here take a few months and go far far away to a magical place with your S! ROFL o.0 Experience the wonderful world of STOCK BIOTCH! Nah but for real man take advice from as many posts and topics as your adalesent eyes can tolerate. Most of the people of here have been there and done that with s2000's to them its all about what havent they done to their S2000. Now before you go messing around with your VTEC read up on it, and find out what it is and how it works. I know its probably hard for you to be sitting at a traffic light with your S2000 and a hot car pulls up moded out, and your thinkin shit mine is stock, and hes thinkin nice S2000 buts its only stock. Well this is one stock SOB im proud to fuckin own. I know how to drive my S how bout you bro. Main point is save your money do it right or sell your S2000 and fade in with the crowd.

Now for you vets i excepted to see more posts like this not encourging the noobs on silly parts! o.0 lol We need to grow as a family guuuyyss!

o.0

Re: (x GotBoost x)

im not a DC fan but im having a hard time finding other headers. any links? these cars are fast stock, but i want just a little bit more, ive put some thought into how i want it. i know i want an ARC intake with a very quite exhaust and a header then mess with the computer system and leave it alone after that. your right, dont point me into the direction of rice, im trying to stay out of that.

Mr. Projekt 05-09-2006 01:21 PM

Re: (Hondageek)

Headers: Rick's, Comptech, J's.

If you get an ARC intake, get a vented hood and cooling plate, or get a different intake.

Very quiet exhaust: stay away from the singles.

S2000's make plenty of power, invest in good tires so that they can keep up with the rest of the car.
