Tracking in the Southeast
Hi guys,
Old time member here, used to be fairly active about 10 years ago when I had a 1997 autox ST prepped Civic.
Several cars later, I currently own a 2003 Corvette C5 coupe with a six speed. I love the C5 but I've always wanted an S2000 since they came out, and currently am in discussion with a neighbor about doing a trade. Both cars are very clean and I think values are pretty equivalent.
Here's my hangup. I really enjoy tracking. Does anyone know of anywhere I could track near Charlotte, NC that doesn't implement the broomstick test for HPDE? I've chatted with TurnOne at Carolina Motorsports Park, NASA Southeast, Googled a ton, and it's looking bleak. I'm a tall dude at 6'2" and even with a seat swap/roll bar, I'm not sure if I'd pass broomstick, and additionally, I don't really want to modify the car much. I only have one car (and a truck for my job) so this is my weekend DD and I also think tearing up a clean S2K and putting a roll bar in it is a bad move at this point. The Corvette is a better car to turn into an all out track car, but the S2000 would be a blast to just have, drive, enjoy, and occasionally take to HPDE.
