Default hankook R-S2 Z212 opinions

I was thinking about picking up a pair of Hankook R-S2 Z212s (that is a mother freaking pain to type out) for my AP1...stock tire sizes. Wondering if anyone has them on their car. If it matters, im running Skunk2 springs and -2.25 degrees of camber front and -2.5 degrees camber rear, and stock toe and caster settings. I know that wear is not their strong point, but this isnt my daily driver, so i dont really care. I was wondering about the dry grip in particular. thanks guys!

some people will tell you to stay away from these tires...... i have not run into any problems, and recommend them......

great dry traction when newer(sidewall is a little soft), not so good when close to worn out...

these tires had a good write up in grassroots motorsports magazine....sorry cannont find the article

remember that you need to run 245-45 16 in the rear....

i got em now and have had them for quite some time. very good tire in terms of price and traction, like cmdr430 said tho, i wish the sidewall was a little stiffer... but none the less good bang for the buck

Love em. Good bang for the Buck. Another tire I reccomend is the Falken RT615. The only problem is that the widest tire on that sub model for a 16" is a 225

Soft sidewalls, takes forever to warm up, decent wet/dry grip balance. Not bad if you don't like spending a lot.

As the others mentioned...very soft sidewall.

Personally, I found the braking sub-par...probably my biggest complaint after mounting the tires was how terrible the braking is.

Lateral grip is decent. They communicate very well when they are at the limit.

cool...thanks guys. Im kinda put off by the braking performance...lol usually im the last one to hit his brakes before a corner (on the track). But just out of curiosity, I have a queston for all the people that had poor braking performance. How much negative camber were you running up front? lots of camber affects braking..so maybe that was the cause? thanks again!

lol i just noticed the last guy's name was "neg camber".

I'm running with 225/16 up front with 2deg neg camber. 245/16 rear with 3deg neg camber.

Had the same camber settings with a set of ES100s...and they had better braking. Also, I'm using Carbotech Bobcat pads...fairly decent street/track pad.

one of the downsides of running too much negative camber in the front is decreased braking performance. If you guys are noticing traction issues in braking, run less camber in the front.

2 degrees isnt really that agressive. Im running 2.25 but i was thinking about going back down to 1.75-2 degrees. I had some negative effects running 2.25 with stock S03s. Hmm...idunno maybe i'll have to try a set of these mothas out for myself. They're not expensive and they're really only going to last thru one season of driving so i might as well. thanks again, guys!

Ive run two sets of these tires on my car - and i love them. As said above, the sidewall is a little weak, but the grip is excellent. However the S gets pretty loose when the tires are bald and dont even THINK about driving it in the rain with bald tires its a scary experience. As for braking, it might not be as good as some of the other tires, but its not exactly bad or anything ive had no complains.

For the money you cant beat them.

Here is a review on car and driver about them:
http://www.caranddriver.com/fe....html (page 9)

They rated them the best out of the cheaper tires, and 5th overall.
