Icon6 s2000 potential buy?! Help!

So, there's a local s2000 for $1500. It needs new cylinder head, and some of the engine needs to be put back together. Mainly just belts, vacuum transport box, and other items. Nothing major. Guy doesn't have time for it anymore Paint job may need some re conditioning, it's lowered on Eibach coilovers, cheaper set of enkei's. Is it worth it? Friend may go half and half the whole way. What do you guys think? It's an AP1 btw 2002. Thanks a lot!

If it's near me, I'm going to find it, I'm going to buy it, I'm going to strip it, and I WILL race it.

If the Chassis is straight, it's worth the $1500 alone, not to mention anything else you can strip off it.

Understand, you need to have the money ahead of time, if you want it running again. If you need someone to go Half & Half with you, it probably isn't a good idea for you to buy it. It will just sit for X amount of time. These are not cheap cars.

Figure spending another $7k minimum to get it up and running. Thats assuming youre doing all the work yourself. Is the car worth $8.5k running?

Eibach makes coilovers. They have for a while now. But the only ones I'm aware of for the S2000 are multipro R2's for like $3000. So I doubt that's what's on there. They're probably GC's or eibach lowering springs.

OP...it's definitely worth it. Even if it needed a new engine altogether, it's worth it. As long as the chassis is straight.

Why would this cost $8500 to get it running? If it is how the OP says it is...a longblock is the extent of what it needs. Possibly just a head to get it going.

Why would anyone tell him not to jump on it...if the info is legit. Yall jealous?

Jealous? Totally - $1500 for an S2K in any kinda shape seems like a deal. Even if it's just a pretty garden ornament.

I never said NOT to get it. I said if he need to split the cost of $1500 he probably shouldnt buy it to fix it up. I would just strip it and make some money.

I don't believe this guy would let the car go $1500 if it didn't need a new motor or something else majorly wrong with it.

A longblock is like $2500-3k. Which means a running $4500 S2000.

Strip it and sell it? Why? So you can make like $1-2k?? If you were to fix it, you could make more than that after driving it for a year or 2.

Pfffffft. Strip it. Surely you jest. Also...why split it? Unless you're trying to help a friend out or something....

I'd rather do it on my own and keep 100% of what I made...whether the goal is a running car or profit.
