s2000 bought from dealer
Hey guys I bought an 2004 S2000 from the dealership on July 3rd. I was driving on the FWY and the pipe came loose and sounded like it had open headers, so I took it to a muffler shop and the muffler came unwelded from the pipe. While the car was up on the lift we noticed that the car has NO CAT as well. My question is that I want to know if the dealer is liable for this because I feel as if I was mislead. I specifically asked the finance manager at the dealership if I would have problems smogging this car in the future because the reason I'm buying it is because I wanted a car that didn't have any type of issus like this. Not only that but i paid the dealer to have my DMV fees and stuff taken care of, so personally I believe that they are going to get this car illegally passed and for that, it is another red flag for them. I feel like i've been lied to and that I don't feel safe driving this car anymore because of the fact that the salesman said they have a "certification" before they buy a car. Damn well their mechanic would have let them know there is no CAT if that were true. I live in CA and I have been reading around on different places about dealer fraud and what not. Do I have any chance of giving the car back because I don't want these issues, like I said the reason why I bought another car was to be done with any types of BS like this. Please positive feedback only, and I appreciate your help!

WOW! That has to be illegal, especially in Cali. I very much doubt you'll get them to take it back, probably should go ahead and get a lawyer now.

Lol...lawyer up?
Make a phone call. You didn't smell the fact it had no cat? It smells so much without a cat.
Call them. Ask them what they can do for you. Why bother posting it here?

Yes, a lawyer. You'd be amazed what a call from your attorney can do compared to call by you. Just a friendly call from the attorney so that they know if they don't make it right you have a lawyer on hand.
BTW: It works even better with child services.

Have the muffler shop write an affidavit stating what they witnessed and then have your lawyer call. They should be liable, if it was falsely advertised.
