<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by firefighter81 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">That's ridiculous. The shop in Sacramento California that has done several F20C swaps charges ~$3500 labor as well. One such car was in the BMI video "American Togue" that belongs to Gabe Tyler of Techno Toy Tuning. I've spoken with him and the shop that did the swap personally, and they do the entire swap for $10k out the door, that includes parts/labor/fabbing/AEM EMS..... EVERYTHING for $10k.

There's more work involved in the swap if you have a RHD car, you have to custom fab up a new header and motor mounts that tilt the motor differently. But even then, $35k is absolutely ridiculous. Perhaps they said 400,000yen and not 4 million.

When the initial swap is done, the car should be somewhere around 250-260 flywheel hp, and weigh in at just under 1800lbs. Once I get into a little more modding and tuning the EMS, I should be around 270 or so. Sounds like fun to me https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif </TD></TR></TABLE>

just to update about the 4.4 million yen conversion...that was the price. i finally checked on it last night. but the cost also covered the rest of the build on the car...suspension, weld in roll cage, all kinds of stuff. and i'm sure it being probably the first one done it lent to the huge price tag.

i love this car when he scared the crap of the S2000 peps at willow springs.
240hp on a 1600lbs car...

firefighter81 04-05-2006 03:58 AM

Actually that car has full interior and is closer to 1950lbs, it's also making 260hp thanks to the AEM EMS, exhaust, and a cold air intake setup. But yes, my engine bay will be that clean, just not white, it will be black, and the car will likely be a smooth flat black or graphite gray.

Mine should be in the 1900 range with cage. But that's with everything stripped out. Aluminum dashboard, no HVAC system whatsoever, so sound deadening, etc, etc. Once I get the carbon hood, hatch, fenders, and doors I should be down in the 1800 range. But the main goal is weight balance, which I should be able to maintain. The S2000 motor is slightly heavier than the stocker, but so is my Supra rear end. The battery is being relocated to the back, as well as the stock fuel tank is being removed and replaced with an 8 gallon fuel cell.

I've been in Germany the last few weeks so I haven't updated this much, but I will be alot more over the next couple weeks because I'll be home to work on it a little. I've ordered a Run-Free style body kit, 15x8 0 offset Sportmax wheels with Bridgestone street tires, as well as diamondracing 15x8 (front) and 15x10 (rear) racing wheels and Kuhmo V700 245(front) and 275(rear).

I'll be home the 13th, and I'm going to pick up some stuff on the 14th, like the body kit, the radiator, seat, and some other stuff.

I'll start the cleanup and interior removal right away, lots of photos and progress updates will be posted.

math labs 04-20-2006 09:49 PM

firefighter, its pirate_slide from club4ag, I used to own an integra so i still have a log-on here on HT...

I have some awesome developments with my f20c swap into my coupe 86; just like gabriel, im using the stock header, I placed the motor as far back and as low as possible and everything looks okay... I'm in the process of plotting out where to cut the trans tunnel and installing my moroso cage for the added rigidity, not sure if youre going for the AEM EMS (trust me it should be worth it) but im going with the cheaper greddy emanage, Hotstaff uses the emanage and looks like they arent having any problems.

Good luck man, keep us posted on your progress, I plan on having this swap done by june.

Re: (math labs)

Sorry for the lack of updates guys, been busy enjoying my leave and prepping the car. Dropped off the car and motor and tranny at a shop much more local than me, decided not to go to Canada due to their customs wanting to charge me thousands of dollars in taxes and deposits just to take the car over the border.

Here's some progress pics:

removed entire dash, interior, and sound deadening:
http://www.posdsm.com/uploads/images/100/IMG_1814.JPG

wheels I bought, 15x8 0 offset SportMax:

Motor and tranny after removing A/C and some clean up:

wheels/tires 225 front, 245 rear:
http://www.posdsm.com/uploads/images/100/IMG_1823.JPG

dropped the gas tank, it was nearly full, which made it tough.

Work to the car should begin early next week! https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Nice wheels.

thanks. I took the center caps back off, I like the look much better with them off.

Re: (firefighter81)

Put the motor on a hoist, dont let it sit on the header like that. Might ruin the threads on your header studs.

firefighter81 05-04-2006 08:59 AM

Re: (FR-MOB: Projekt)

I didn't have a hoist available, but it's on one now. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

While you're right remember that the stock header has an additional brace midway to the block. I'd be more concerned with the weight of the engine on the oil pan.

At this point the key word should be "WENT WELL" as this project should be done since its been over 7 monthes running. Although it might not be, he is in the USAF and that could definately slow the project down considerably.
