Driveshaft Shop releases new 2.9 version axles
We here at The Driveshaft Shop are always looking to improve our axles and shafts, over the years the inner CV on the S2000 has been an problem with the stock axles. The factory Tripod just isn't up to the task and will wear into the housing, the tripod has only 3 points in where i makes contact and will dig right into the housing causing the part to wear. We have decided to change our popular level 2.9 over to have a Porsche style 930 or 108mm CV so there is a full 6 contact points, this will also be a great advantage over past designs as being its a ball and cage design it will be better running at an angle. you see when the S2000 is lowered it puts the inner CV into a decent angle putting more stress on the inner CV. this new design will be not only be tougher but also smoother at transferring power. take a look

Re: Driveshaft Shop releases new 2.9 version axles
Sweet!!!! What's the price in the 2.9axles? I kinda want to get rid of my axle spacers :)
|
Re: Driveshaft Shop releases new 2.9 version axles
There the same price as the old ones, 499.99 each. why would you have spacers on the axles ?
|
Re: Driveshaft Shop releases new 2.9 version axles
^^^car is lowered. which puts stress on the axles and cv boots. the spacers are suppose to relieve that stress.

Re: Driveshaft Shop releases new 2.9 version axles
OK, the length should not change all that much. it more then likely would move the tripod in further past the area where it would have been worn. if you would like to take a dimension from the flat of the flange on the diff to the back of the inner race on the wheel bearing ill check to see how it changes the length. i have dimensions from a stock car.

Re: Driveshaft Shop releases new 2.9 version axles
for 500 bucks a piece, i hope they last forever
|
Re: Driveshaft Shop releases new 2.9 version axles
Whats the price on the driveshaft? and would it be possible to get a ford flange on the diff end?
I have an 8.8 in my car now with the stock drive shaft, but its just a hair too long and I feel like its going to wear the cv's in the stock drive shaft out. we welded the stock flange to the ford flange so it would bolt up. |
Re: Driveshaft Shop releases new 2.9 version axles
we have been looking in to making a Cv style shaft for this out of aluminum but i need some of the plates they mount to on each end. does anyone have a spare shaft they can lend us to check some dimensions. we will need a AP1 and AP2
|
Re: Driveshaft Shop releases new 2.9 version axles
I have an ap1 shaft I wont be needing for a month or or so
|
Re: Driveshaft Shop releases new 2.9 version axles
that would be great, i only need it for a day or two. can i send you a ups label
|
Re: Driveshaft Shop releases new 2.9 version axles
Thats no problem. Ups comes by the shop every afternoon, I could have it out tomorrow.

Re: Driveshaft Shop releases new 2.9 version axles
I don't know if you post on S2Ki or not, but what are the torque specs for the axle nut on the Stage 5.9 Full Blown Motorsports Ford 8.8 Rear end kit?
Thanks, Jason |
Re: Driveshaft Shop releases new 2.9 version axles
The spec is the same as the factory S2000, it sets the preload on the bearing. not the CV. im not at the office or i would have given the correct spec.
