hey everyone, im an oldschool Honda guy, currently have a 98 gsr, recently got my hands on an s2k. I was about to throw a cold air intake on but heard it will loose power..? im a total s2000 noob, and im worried about disconnecting the battery to erase the memory after putting the cai on because there are so many sensors and everything. I don't wanna harm the car or make it less powerful, but I just don't like driving a stock car haha what precautions should I take for throwin on a cold air intake? thanks guys

its no different then your gsr, there are no more or no less

the only intake on the market that will loose power is the arc,, get your self a aem cold air or a comptech or something like that, youl pick up a couple hp, nothing serious though

and you dont need to disconnect your battery after you install the intake

Is it worth it, no, not really unless your main aim is to remove a lot of that plastic in the engine bay.

yeah main goal is to get all that plastic outta there. I don't plan I seeing a difference from a simple cai, but I just didn't wanna make it worse.

I actually prefer the short ram, since the intake is tuned for power only and not sound resonance, it is still flows better than stock. they are usually cheaper, easier to install, and offer a slight advantage in engine response due to the shorter piping. CAI will produce more power due to higher air density compared to air in engine bay. Both with increase the volume of noise the engine produces too.

short rams are the absolute worse for heat soak...guaranteed to lose power

up to you, I had cold air on my b18c5 hatch and always thought the filters weren't good enough of a filter to filter out contaminants especially it being close to the tarmac and then filter being wet on rainy days.

Since I bought my S2000, and the way the previous owner kept it completely stock and kept it in really good condition, I plan to not put on those CAI, the engine runs strong the way it is with the lid on. I did with the lid off, drove like sh#t.

I suggest the snorkel... looks clean, I'm going that route when I find one in kevlar, thats not over priced. If I had money to burn I'd get the PWDJDM Kevlar one

i should clarify, its more of a short ram. it follows the same route as stock (starting on the drivers side, curving in front of the motor to the passengers side) so it still sucking engine bay air. only difference I notice is the engine bay look way cleaner, saved weight over the heavy *** stock air box, and most important vtec kicks noticeably louder
