i wouldnt do it, altho a motor is "mechanical" its still "alive" so to speak.... your motor gets accustomed to running a certain way ..... if your on syn just stick with it.....

don't switch back and forth b/w the two. Stick with syn or non-syn especially on higher mileage engines.

Re: can i switch back from synthetic to regular oil? 115k motor.. (evil vapor)
Hmmm, well previous owner said he was gettin full synthetic, but he wasnt doing his own oil changes..
a shop was .. and it has receits of 25$ oil changes.. im guessing 100% that "speed lube and car wash" would be cheap and go with DINO oil..
imma email him making sure what oil he used exactly.. but since i already put full synth in it, too late to change back now?

The quick lube places do have syn oil too and you can ask for it at an extra cost. Don't worry about it and just drive the car and enjoy it. Stick with syn oil changes from now on.

i have a similar question. (not to thread jack or anything)
mine has roughly 42000 on it. but its been getting changed at honda all the time. i dont think they use synthetic oil. the question is..... when can or should i switch to synthetic oil? and is it good to do so right now?

around 75k. which is what is labeled as "high mileage"

most honda dealers now stock some variant of syn lube since you'll get s2k customers asking for it. But the key is you have to ask for it. When I first bought my car at Honda World in westminster, first oil change was free. They used mobil1 without my asking, but I know other dealers aren't like Honda World. Wesloh honda in San Juan used to sell Redline oil and you could get that for your oil change. I know there was a bulletin saying that syn oil should be avoided till 15k miles due to oil burning issues, but I never had any oil burning issues despite running syn oil since the first oil change.
