If you can't wait, don't buy the face-lift (IMO, ugly and too expensive). Either find a killer deal on an older one (97-98 are getting cheaper), get a lease on a still-in-the-showroom 2001, or maybe find a Zanardi. The Zanardi would be a good way to go for two reasons: 1) it's the best-performing stock NSX in the US, 2) it should retain its resale value the best because it's a limited edition.

Frankly, no one knows what the new NSX will really be or when it will come out. You might be best off blowing your cash on an early model NSX and just totally pimping it out with supercharger, brakes, wheels, tires, suspension, cosmetic/aero mods (if you like), etc... etc... Really depends on what you want the car for.

There are a lot of reasons that many people prefer to buy only new cars - even though used cars are virtually always a better value.

If you are considering buying a new NSX, then the questions you need to ask yourself to help make this decision are:

- How long do you plan to keep the car?
- How much do you care about resale value when you decide to sell the car?
- How bad would you feel if the all-new NSX came out and it blew away the current one?

The resale value of a new NSX declines by $10-15K in the first two years and about the same amount in the three years after that. Factor that into your decision.

If you want a new 2002 NSX now, and you can afford it, then get it! When the new (next-generation) NSX comes out, you can decide at that point whether to keep your 2002 or to trade it in for a new one.

One fact of the automotive world is that new cars are constantly being introduced. There will ALWAYS be a better car coming onto the market in the not-too-distant future. If you keep putting off a new car purchase for this reason, you will never get the chance to buy the new car and enjoy it for a while. At some point, it's nice to have exactly what you want and to spend time enjoying it.

BTW, I'm betting that the all-new NSX won't be out two years from now, and that it will be delayed by at least another 6-12 months, if not longer. Just my personal guess.

Yeah I'm kinda thinking of the Zanardi edition and not doing much to it, maybe some track days and trying to keep it in good condition. Probably a good collectors piece in the future.

The problem with that idea is the NSX is so much fun, and so reliable, it's just hard to resist driving it all the time.

The NSX has been by dream car for i don't even know how long. To me, I loved the desing of the NSX and really like the old ones (up 'til 2001). I like the new ones too. From what I hear this new 04 NSX will be over 400hp and look like a ferrari from the drawings i've seen. So for all out power, whenever the new NSX comes out, it will destroy all previous NSX's. I just hope it keeps true to it's beautiful handling that it has now. I think when I get older, I'll end up buying a used 2002 model unless I fall in love with the 400 hp monster.
