Re: (revhi)
Supra's can have a ton of horsepower, make a TON of noise and not do a damn thing (just like mustangs)...granted they can very well be fast, but they are old technology, a 6cyl with turbo's is fine for making power, it aint reliable at all, but it will make power...just like a Buick Grand National or RX7...and yes, in a straight line, slightly modified the turbo cars will walk away from an S2000, and probobly would out it or run even stock for stock...but thats where the close comparisons stop, and the S2000 walks away from them with a smile on its face.

you can't even compare the two...
one is an inline 6 TT and the other is a high reving inline 4...nothing is simialr about the two cars at all...

^^^ Ouch...lol. What really sucks is that they taught some breed of dog to drive that pink S2000, you'd atleast think theyd have let an actual person drive it...oh well.

Re: (Y2K_S2K)
supras are very underestimated on the road course...they preform very well for how big and heavy they are...
s2k will still rape it though on the turns

Yeah right. You guys need a reality check:
Supra Twin Turbo Specs:
320hp / 315lb-ft tq
6 Speed with LSD
12.6" vented discs front and rear
235/45-17 front meats, 255/40-17 rear
0-30 = 2.2 sec
0-60 = 5.0 sec
1/4 mile = 13.5 @ 107.0mph
Lateral Grip = .98g
60-0 = 120'
(numbers from Sport Compact Mag Supra Buyer's Guide)
2004 Honda S2000 (6speed, 2.2litre):
0-60: 5.40 sec
1/4: 13.90 sec
60-0 Braking: 115.00 ft
Skidpad: 0.91 g.
Slalom: 70.20 mph
(from a recent post in this section. I'm sure those drag numbers are pretty optimistic too)
The S2000 might be faster only on the very tightest of roads but even then, they are still in the same autocross class which shows how they compare on tight stuff. The supra still pulls more lateral grip. It can also take hard launches all day long where the Honda's durability for hard launches isn't too good. You guys say it's old but that doesn't mean anything. It's a proven formula of lots of power, big tires, well tuned chassis, and big brakes. A very durable 400 wheel hp is only a few mods away. Try that with the S2000. The S2000 is a great sports car but you can't act like it dominates the Supra.

Are you joking?
There are supras with close to 1000hp with over 150k miles on the completely bone stock blocks. Our supra has been running 500rwhp and besides oil changes/brake pads/lots of rubber, there has never been a hicup over the last 40k miles. Ontop of that, all the local supra owners we know have never had a problem, many are running close to our power. The Supra was overengineered beyond anything Honda has made.
On the other hand, the only two people I know with S2000's have had one break his rear diff twice, and the other his driveline. But I do understand those are the two weakpoints on the S2k.
But from experience, the supra is harder to control at the limits, for a intermediate driver, I'd give the edge to the S2k on a track with lots of tight twisties and not a huge straight. Advanced drivers or longer tracks, the Supra has the edge. Drag racing is not a very fair comparison...

Re: (92TypeR)
supra stock block can handle 600whp. I dunno that 2jz motor is mighty strong and very powerful. Im scared of those cars when i seem them on the streets in my S2.

Heh, stock fuel can support close to 600rwhp. There are close to a dozen stock 2JZ blocks with over 900rwhp.

Re: (Y2K_S2K)
My biased opinion might overshadow some aspects of discussion when comparing the 2 cars, but i can say without question that the reliability of the Toyota Supra twin turbo is lack luster, atleast from what i've experienced in my personal life...2 of my friend (who both still own turbo supras, a 1995 and a 1994) have literally spent more time than i can ever imagine trying to keep those things running well, granted the cars are very modified, but even still...their turbo cars, and even one of my favorite cars on the market from the 90's...the MR2 Turbo, suffers from the same issues that the Supra does.
Anyways...the supra can out accelerate an S2000 if its running right...thats no question (IF its running right)...handling wise, i still think the S2000 outs the Supra. Power wise i could give a **** about...all the dyno queen supras i've watched make 1,000+ hp and the only time their tires ever move is on a dyno machine...lol, nothing against supras, not a fan, but they are fast...i will admit that.

Shoot, I'll admit it! I was going to buy one instead of the S2K, but I couldn't find financing for it... ~$18k for an eleven year old car - very few lenders will go over 36 months on a loan for a car that old, regardless of what it is or what it's worth.
As for reliability, there's a MKIV TT Supra here in Tulsa with 250,000+ miles. It's not stock, it's stiff as hell and the roads here suck.

Re: s2000 vs 93 toyota supra twin turbo
I'd take a Supra over a S-2000 anyday. Don't get me wrong, the S2000 is a nice car, but raw power for power the Supra will destroy an S-2000 easily. That stright 6 3.0 liter iron block is a devastating engine made to destroy. Plus the Supra is just dead sexy, wide body and legendary animal. I take nothing away from the S-2000 but the Supra for me hands down without even thinking about it.

My boy Danny has a 2JZ Supra with well over 1200 horse power. When he starts it up it sounds like the world is going to end!!!! My Goodness it's a gorgeous machine.
