Default $450.00 worh it??

Im picking up a HKS hi-power 60mm duel exhaust and a t1r test pipe for $450.00. Is that worth it?? Opinions on the exhaust setup?

depends what you want, but i have a test pipe and the HKS and i am very happy. The biggest gains come from the test pipe, the HKS just makes the whole thing sound buttery.

oh, and 450 is extremely cheap to me, but the US guys would have a better idea on that

Well thanks for the info.. Ya the guy is throwin in a t1r test pipe with it! And CEL fix. I hope its the right choice, i've been shopping for almost a month and i'd prefer 70mm HKS duel but beggers cant be choosers. My S2k is my DD so maybe the 60mm will be nicer. The t1r has a resonator too. Are the gains a lot less with the 60mm??

i'm not sure of the gains for either exhaust - it's rare to get much gain from an exhaust on the S2000 anyway, but the HKS is definitely not the best for gains. For that you need single and loud.
The biggest gain will come from the test pipe - unless you're going for a full on build or boosting later, then get an exhaust that sounds the business.
Also, the HKS is lighter than stock by quite a bit so there's some kinda gain there

I'd say there's much better out there, BUT at a lightly modded DD 60-63mm would probably be optimal anyway. Plus @ 450$ you can't go wrong at all. Worst case scenario you decide you want to do something different with your car down the road and you could re-sell it probably at $450 no problem.

If you like the sound of it, I'd say do it

thats a good deal if the exhaust n TP are in good condition... my friend bought a used HKS from a guy locally and he paid $500. And that was just the exhaust. But the exhaust was MINT.

From what i have read on the threads is the HKS sounds amazing, but has even been shown to lose power at certain points on the curve. But if he is throwing in the test pipe, even if you only get minimal gains you will sound better, stock is too boring for me.

i would go for it assuming the exhaust is in great quality.

yeah, it's never been shown to 'lose' power - that's a myth. There are a couple of dyno sheets that have shown a very small gain in hp and some better gains in tq but only bumps in the curve - nothing to write home about..

HAHAHA thanks guys. You all are great at squashing my insecurites about buying car parts. Its hard cuz their are so many options. I'm just excited for the fact that its HKS, i know they are good quality. And yes this exhaust is very "straight" the tips are shiny, no bends, scratches or holes and same with the piping. Its a little dirty but its the NorthWest, when it rains the undercarriage gets nasty. I'll polish it up, it looks like theHKS has the same titanium powder coating as my old Apex'i. I see the familier bluish-grey hue that some noobs mistake for not being high-qulaity "stainless steel." Also.... My s2k is my DD and i wont be going FI for a few years, i dont track it (yet) and only catch a few revs on the freeway from other Hondas, so it sounds like 60mm will be just dandy. Again thanks a ton you guys, and if i can find out how to post pics of it installed this weekend i will. Video would be even nicer :-)

I agree, also the stock exhaust compared to the HKS weighs a whopping 50 lbs!
So you get a slight gain in HP but with a TP you will notice topend power, and with less weight, and for 450 thats not bad.
Later on maybe try a single exhaust, im never going back after installing my 60mm with 70mm TP.

6hrs of driving and 2hrs of install (took my time, shut up) and i love it. Sounds great at idle and cruising, very quite with a deep tone but at 6k VTEC its like a hurricane hitting. Beautiful... Only two gripes with my purchase are 1) a tiny rattle at certain RPM, but its not hitting any body parts and i KNOW all the bolts/washers are tight as mother teresa's butthole. 2) the right side hangs at a slightly different hieght and tilt (very mild.) Soo as for the rattle, i may leave it, could be something inside the exhaust and for the saggy right nut, i'm going to use a crowbar to bend one of the hangers up a bit. Other than that, i'm glad i didn't go single, this 60mm HKS and a t1r test pipe are plenty of loud.

I had skunk2 megapower with a berk hi flow cat. It is a 70mm to dual 60mm. I noticed a significant gain in mid-range and maybe a tiny loss up top when switching back to stock. Even with a cat the skunk2 exhaust is loud as fawk! It's for sale too...

ya i think the only power made was through my t1r test pipe... I suppose i'll wait to change exhaust when i have $$$ and time to do a more seriouse build. I'd like to do an NA track set up then a FI build much later.
