Default Info on Ruckus - mpg, legality, etc.

I'm finding it hard to get information on these. I'm pretty sure the Ruckus is street legal in California, but what about highway legal? What is the top speed on a stock Ruckus? What kind of mpg does it get? I'm really interested in these, but I need more info.

Thanks in advance.

Hello alacard,

The Honda Ruckus has a regular speed of 30 to 40mph and top speeds of anywhere from 40 to 45mph. In addition, the owners boast these scooters can get anywhere from 80 to 110mpg. Based on this scooters top speed of only 40 to 45mph, it is not suited for highway use. This is not uncommon for a 50cc engine. Realistically speaking, you would need a scooter with a 250cc engine or larger. The reason is these size scooters can go up to 70mph or faster and this speed is really necessary to travel on highways safely. So if you need a scooter for highway use, I would look at the Honda Reflex. A lot of buyers have really liked this scooter for this purpose and all around scooter use.

***Caveat: Recognize the numbers provided above vary depending on ones driving terrain, traveling distance and road and weather conditions.

Best,
Kyle Park

Thanks for all the information guys. I guess the most I'm concerned about is the top speed. I don't need it for highway use...but most of the roads I take to work have a speed limit of 55 or 45.

The "hip" factor is part of the reason why I like the ruckus

Hey guys. Im here in New Zealand and these ruckus things excite me to the extreme!

if only they were readily available to our market!

although when I tried to search up to see what would come up on the local/national NZ auction site 'Trademe', it came up with one listing of a motorbike, and it was nicknames the large ruckus!
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade...9.htm

ever seen one of those before? I guess this is as close as I'll get to the ruckus itself, although it has a beasty motor, 250cc and its expensive.. $10K which is double the price the worth of my ek sedan!! do these have any relation to these 'ruckus' that all you guys are posting pics of etc?

around how much do you pay for your 'ruckus' in the US?

Define a "fire-road".

I've taken mine off-road at my parents' house which is just like unkept forest with trails, if you get what I mean...I've taken it over small hills, etc. Basically, if a 50cc dirtbike can handle it, a Ruckus can as well.

The more weight you have, the slower it goes....but my 6'3", 220lb. friend has fit on mine before, he just has to sit further back on the seat and the fastest it would go was ~35mph.

The Ruckus is street-legal in California, but you'll need the meet the same requirements as a full-sized motorbike, meaning: M1 License (not M2, don't let them tell you that), plates, registration tags and insurance. After that you are good to go.

Don't expect to be hitting the freeway anytime soon on a stock Ruckus. '09 and up top out around 40-45 mph if you're light.
