Finally got my ruckus!!!

So the story goes, I was driving home from work last week on my '01 Gsxr1k and a idiot in a neighborhood half ran a stop sign to my right causing me to hit the front brakes on slick asphalt throwing me into a low side slide. As he sped off in his caddy I told myself this is the last time I bleed for this bike. So I sold her today for 3000$. Which I don't think is bad for a bike that had been down a couple times and had 50k on the frame and 20k on the engine. I will admit I teared up a little but a few hours later I purchased a 2011 black Ruck. I gotta tell ya it feels like the best Christmas present ever!!! I know they aren't that fast but man is it fun! I love it. I got it with 483 miles bone stock an the guy threw in a password jdm drag bar kit for 2050$! I couldn't be happier. I weigh in at bout 180-185,and in flat streets I'm hitting a little over 42mph. I gotta ask you guys, I know there's no magic go fast solution but I'd like to be able to hit 50mph with the factory engine... Are my hopes too high? I'm gonna start with the basics like air filter and exhaust but what are the Roller weights and variator kits for? I'm guessing kinda like sprockets for sport bikes? Well just thought I'd share, I haven't been this happy since I had swapped my eg back in the day, I can't wait for bike night now!

First off, glad you're alright from the lay down, douchebag drivers.....

50mph on the stock GET motor is possible, but expensive and takes a lot. You are right, the roller weights act like a sprocket that changes gears based on engine rpm/speed. Its called a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission), the belt moves further up the variator as the clutch tightens on it and the roller weights move further to the outside of the variator essentially creating a taller gear. Sounds weird, but it's pretty simple and if you took it apart, you'd understand it quickly.

You can increase your acceleration or your top speed by changing your weights, however, if you increase acceleration you lose top speed and vice versa.

If you want the "magic go fast button" its going to be swapping out the stock motor for a gy6.

Have fun with it man! They're cool little scooters but will drain your pockets faster than a car will, especially if you keep the mindset of thinking you're saving money because it gets 100 mpg like a lot of people do, hahah.

Today I cut off the stock blinker brackets and relocated the blinkers to get ready to put my
Password drag bar set on. (below)
